BETTER TO
LIGHT A CANDLE THAN RELY ON THE DARKNESS
Being in the
vicinity of the Shivalik Fossil Park (Suketi Fossil Park), Morni-hills, Renuka-Lake
and Kalesar National Park, Kalesar
Wildlife Sanctuary, (both from a bond between Kalesar Forest in contiguous with
the Simbalbara National
Park and Rajaji
National Park). Kalesar forest is home to leopards,
panthers, elephants, wild boars/pigs, red jungle fowl, and variety of birds nestling
rearing their dreams in the backdrop of a beautiful mosaic of water channels forming
Hathnikund Barrage. The serene natural freshness of the land always kept
me engaged. From my early childhood it made me to probe and document the facts
about its eco-system, geography, fauna-flora, culture, politics and people. While
studying Botany and Zoology in MLN College at Yamunanagar we dwelled in these
heavens with a noted Botanist Professor Kali Ram and Zoologist Professor Bindra.
My great uncle
Dr. Samay Singh, a Persian Scholar remained Sarpanch of our village. He had relations
with Dr. Harbert (A noted surgeon), Aslam Khan, Sunil Dutt’s cousin and Roshan
Lal Arya, MLA from the erstwhile Chachroli constituency.
It was in the
year 2000, Group Captain Harimander Pal Singh (HPS) Pannu, a noted environmentalist,
naturalist, humanist, philosopher, historian, defense-analyst, aviation-specialist,
political activist and philanthropist kindled passion to understand, document
and search its history. He referred to Sir William Wilson Hunter, the editor of
The Imperial Gazetteer of India and quoted excerpts from “the Decline and Fall
of the Roman Empire” by Edward Gibbons about Elephants and Rhinoceros in the
stretch of Himalayas. During my ten year close association with Gp. Copt HPS
Pannu I could see the rhythm and feel the pulse of Himalayan life, it enabled
me to document facts scientifically with clarity.
ARCHAEOLOGICAL
SURVEY OF INDIA ON THE VERGE TO BE THE MOUTH-PIECE OF THE RSS AND
SAVARKARI-MANUVADI-MAFIA
Yamunanagar
runs an RSS laboratory, Gp. Copt HPS Pannu had interaction with one such person
who mooted and start working on the superstitious idea of Saraswati river in the
year 2002. The person quoted an unproven reference from the Imperial gazetteer.
The
Directorate of Archaeology, after sensing the nefarious ploy of the RSS pertaining
to the plotted discovery of some Hindu-god-images found in Morni by some villagers,
expressed his unwillingness to explore these sites.
There are only
two sites — Ratthpur and the Bhima Devi temple in Pinjor — ASI discovered of some
value worth preserving. Archaeologists are of the view that both these temples
could have been built between the 8th century and the 12th century. It was
during that time that the art of iconography had developed to a great extent.
Also, the architectural style is typical of that period, says a senior
archaeologist of the Directorate of Archaeology, Haryana. The excavated parts
of the temples included stone pillars, carvings and statues of apsaras and five copper
pots. The Department of Archaeology registered 54 pieces unearthed from the
site. These items, in possession of the department, are being chemically
treated to discover the exact age of the temple. The results are not out yet.
RSS and its mafia
is on a cryptic mission to create superstitious hype, they manufactured lies of
Milk-drinking-Ganesh, the other decade. For Morni the RSS says the temples were
destroyed by Muslims and their remains were also dispersed but the some honest ASI
personnel suspected the agenda of the RSS as the stones found in the region
have traces of Gandharba art and the images of gods, goddesses, apsaras are
quite similar to those found in the Khajuraho temple in Madhya Pradesh and the
Konark temple in Orissa. The RSS is running a massive agenda to befool ASI, but
they bit the dust, as ASI is internationally liable to scientifically confirm
its results.
For Saraswati
river hype started dominating in the main stream media. The cunning RSS Brahmans,
the Savarkari brigade RSS-BJP started digging the fields in 2014 to bring the river
up from its underground smadhi with lies of all sorts to infuse Manuvadi
poison into the scientific archeological evidence, the idea was: “Six centuries
B.C. there was yet a seventh river of the Punjab— the Saraswati, to the east of
the Sutlej, of which tradition relates that, having ceased to join the Indus,
it made for itself an underground connection with the Ganges and Jumna near
Allahabad,” quoting imperial gazetteer.
A misadventure
of the Imperial gazetteer got nailed scientifically as it was said that Karoh
Peak of Morni hills is
1499 meters (4,913 ft.), but it came out to be only 1,467-metre (4,813 ft.) Shivalik Hills. However
still it is the highest point in the state of Haryana, the correction required
is that the British rulers had incorrectly recorded the height to be 1499
meters, but
later measurements found
the actual height to be about 100 feet lower and official height was revised
down.
A museum
preserves the images and some fossils and the fossils sites from being
indiscriminately extracted and vandalized at Chandigarh. It provides prehistoric period
scientific information for scholarly research. The Suketi park is maintained by
the Geological Survey of India. The Geological Survey of India identifies the
fossils as vertebrates that lived in the area about 2.5 million years ago. Scientists
believe that the Shivalik Hills, which formed about twenty-five million years
ago, show the evolution of mankind. The
mammalian fossils found in the Shivalik of this park are one of the world's
richest antiquities.
During my recent
visit to the Morni Hills area I witnessed the handy work of the RSS, in a temple
claimed to be an ancient Pandav temple where
Pandav's (who actually never existed with their Chakarvayuh, axes, swords, artifacts
and vimans) claimed to be stayed. There are very old hand chiseled looking images and
tablets are fixed in
the wall. The temple exteriors are relatively new on
asking a local Pundit told that the temple was built in the year 1993. The
statues are regularly appearing here from the grounds after rains. The statues
do look old but are not OLD and the Archaeological Survey of India
(ASI) has rightly decided to not to fall prey to the Manuvadi agenda of RSS’s
murti-vibhag. Truth shall prevail only when the falsehood shall be
confronted with facts.
